"5 million users/day use the ferry boat system"
Bahia
In May 2005, after the state of Bahia took charge, TWB was commissioned as the
official operator of the roundtrips between Salvador and Ilha de Itaparica, in the
Baia de Todos os Santos. Due to its outstanding services, TWB won the commission
for 25 years, with the possibility to continue thereafter, for at least another 25 years.
Since the resion has a considerable population, adjacent to some other 30 municipalities,
it is estimated that 5 million users per year enjoy the transportation services provided
by TWB, direct or indirectly.
TWB is involved in implementing the services in the region, with the construction of
platforms for in and out flux of both vehicles and passengers, as well as the addition
of foodcourts at the terminals of Sao Joaquim (Savador) and Bom Despacho
(Ilha de Itaparica).
A new system, ‘Hora Marcada TWB’ – scheduled TWB, is providing efficient sales of
the tickets with a reduction in tariff by 40% compared to the previous prices. As
expected, the Hora Marcada TWB has reduced lines at the terminals, allowing passengers
to plan their trips and purchase their tickets before hand. In addition, TWB has provided
the modernization and improvement of 6 operating ferries.
TWB’s effective transportation system and purchasing procedures have been recreated
in Australia and East Asia.
The ferryboat crossing time has now been reduced from 55 to 30 minutes due to the improvements described, providing better comfort, security and timely services. These
boats are planned to be entirely manufactured by TWB in Navegantes, in the State of
Santa Catarina, using naval aluminum and the most modern technologies available.
With all these added values, TWB is a highly qualified operator for the Baia de Todos os Santos, providing these services with trustworthy effectiveness.
